I opened my own Delicious account several months ago and love being able to access my saved URLs from any computer. This has been so useful when I am helping a customer and trying to remember a site. I do wish I could put them into folders. I am not too confident with my tags as being useful as I add more sites.
I did look at the vbpl site and felt comfortable since it is a format I have been using.

Have you tried bundling your tags? I did that and it made it much easier for me to find things. I have very basic bundles - Library, Personal, etc. Not quite folders but not a whole long list (or cloud) either!
